What’s New at Albright

2006 Golf Challenge a Huge Success!

On May 22, 2006, not even some unseasonably cold temperatures could keep 44 golfers from gathering at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg to have a day of fun following months of fundraising for the 2006 Albright Care Golf Challenge: 90 Holes for 90 Years. This year's event raised more than $75,000 yielding

$60,869.88 after expenses to provide Benevolent Care to residents who are unable to afford the full cost of care at RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg and Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York. The money raised will ensure that Albright Care Services (the parent company of the two communities) can continue its 90-year tradition of never asking a resident to leave a facility due to inability to pay.

This was the second year the even was held at Bucknell Golf Club and after a breakfast provided by the Bucknell Catering Service and RiverWoods Catering, the golfers were off to play 90 holes. Awards were given out for closest to the pin, closest to the line and longest drive contests. The top three fundraisers were also recognized: Jeremy Haines of York raised $8916.80; Steve Foust of Boalsburg raised $5,540.00; and the Rev. Doug Eberly of Watsontown raised $4922.00.

The event will be held again in 2007 as Albright Care Services celebrates its 91st year of never asking a resident to leave because of inability to pay.
