Outstanding Staff Members Recognized as "Best of the Best"

Edie Moyer, Albright Care Services Director of Human Resources; Samantha Bogden, Normandie Ridge Best of the Best Winner; and Doug Flasher, Normandie Ridge Executive Director.

July 16 , 2007

Every year, the Albright Care Services (ACS) Board of Trustees conducts a program to honor ACS employees.  This program, entitled “Best of the Best,” began in 1996 and recognizes one outstanding staff member from RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg and Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York, both owned and operated by ACS.  Best of the Best provides an opportunity for the Trustees to meet some of the professionals within the organization.  As part of their Annual Meeting held at Normandie Ridge on April 26, Albright Care Services announced that Tammy Richard, an employee at RiverWoods; and Samantha Bogden, an employee at Normandie Ridge have been named the “Best of the Best” for 2007.

Edie Moyer, Albright Care Services Human Resources Director; Tammy Richard, RiverWoods Best of the Best Winner; and Wes Leidig, Retired RiverWoods Executive Director.

Recommendations for this honor can be made by anyone (other staff, residents, family of residents, etc.), but the “final” nomination is made to the Executive Council by the appropriate site Executive Director.  Nominee selection is based on the following criteria:  outstanding achievement, attitude, dedication, innovation, motivation, skills, enthusiasm, and contribution to the corporation.  The selected employees from each facility are invited to attend the Annual Board Meeting, where he/she is introduced and recognized by the Board and Corporate Officers for his/her contribution to the corporation.  The employee is asked to say a few words about their work with ACS and has the opportunity to have lunch with the Board.

In addition, the awardees receive a plaque and a weekend for two package at the location of their choosing from a selection of destinations offered through the Human Resources Department in the Central Office.  Albright Care Services pays for hotel and meal expenses.  This year, Tammy has chosen to visit Gettysburg in October, and Samantha recently took a trip to Ocean City, Maryland in the beginning of July.

Both Samantha and Tammy are truly honored to receive this award from Albright Care Services and agree that the residents make their daily tasks worth while.

“Meeting the residents’ needs and providing quality of life is a rewarding experience and has taught me so much,” Tammy stated in her acceptance speech.  “People may forget a word of wisdom, but they [the residents] will never forget an act of kindness.”

Samantha makes a similar statement in her comments to the audience by saying, “I love my job because I look forward to seeing the residents everyday.  Even if I’m having a bad day, one of them will tell me how much they appreciate me helping them, and that instantly makes my day brighter.”
