Normandie Ridge Celebrates National Stroke Awareness Month

Bobbi Patton

April 18 , 2007

May is National Stroke Awareness Month, and Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community will be celebrating by hosting their May Breakfast Series presentation from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16 in the facility’s Multi-Purpose Room at 1700 Normandie Drive in York.  The lecture will conclude with a question and answer session, and breakfast items will be available to all participants.  Residents, staff, and the public are invited to attend free of charge.  Bobbi Patton, a Physical Therapist at Normandie Ridge, will discuss what a stroke is, the signs and symptoms of stroke, types of stroke, what to do when experiencing symptoms, and treatments for and effects of stroke.  Registration is required by May 14 by calling (717) 718-1863.

We encourage all middle-aged persons as well as seniors to attend the Series since stroke affects a wide range of the older population.

Normandie Ridge began their monthly Breakfast Series in February with a presentation on heart disease in celebration of American Heart Month.  The purpose of the Series is to inform the residents, staff, and the community on topics relating to senior health and wellness.  Topic suggestions can be made by calling (717) 718-1863.
