Prevention Health Screenings to Offer Wellness Screenings at Normandie Ridge
April 18 , 2007
Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community, located at 1700 Normandie Drive in York, will be hosting health screenings by Prevention Health Screenings on Thursday, May 3 from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the facility’s Multi-Purpose Room. The screenings range in price from $25 to $129, depending on the type chosen, and all interested participants must pre-register.
The mission of Prevention Health Screenings, headquartered in Liverpool, PA, is to provide affordable health screenings to find the people that have undetected health problems and are at risk for heart disease, stroke, and osteoporosis. Their prevention program provides early detection for these treatable conditions.
“Two out of three stroke victims have no prior symptoms or warnings, and doctors cannot order an ultrasound test unless their patients are experiencing symptoms,” stated Kevin Felmlee, M.Ed., President of Prevention Health Screenings. “That’s why our screenings are so important.”
Kevin and Don Swigart, a registered Vascular Sonographer and Respiratory Therapist from Doppler Diagnostics of Harrisburg, made a presentation on vascular related disease at Normandie Ridge on April 12. Don spoke about the hardening of the arteries and how it affects your legs; the dangers of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm; genetics versus risk factors; and the prevention of plaque build-up in arteries. He even performed a screen on a volunteer from the audience so everyone could see what they were like and what they could detect.
