Normandie Ridge Volunteers Recognized at Luncheon
April 23 , 2007
Approximately 60 volunteers with a recorded 3,000 hours of work were recognized on Wednesday, April 18 at a luncheon held in the beautifully decorated Normandie Ridge Multi-Purpose Room; “Timeless Treasures” was the theme. All of the participants were presented with certificates of appreciation and had a choice of jumbo stuffed shrimp or chicken cordon bleu for lunch. Triple chocolate mousse cake and fruit cups were served for dessert. A magic show, presented by Jerry Mickey, entertained the group for the remainder of the afternoon.
The volunteers, many of whom are residents, donate their time at Normandie Ridge by serving as weekend greeters; organ and piano players; reading and singing to the residents of the Nursing Care Center; transporting fresh water; assisting with bingo, crafts, and socials; and helping in local United Methodist churches with bingo and Sunday services.
“It’s wonderful to see how people are called to take care of our community,” commented Kathy Dunbar, Assisted Living Administrator and Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Normandie Ridge.
