Representative Todd Platts Meets with Residents at Normandie Ridge
June 3 , 2008

Representative Todd Platts of the 19th Congressional District met with a group of residents at Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community on Monday, June 2. The event was part of the first Annual Home Coming Week, established by AAHSA (American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging) to showcase the facility and its service to seniors. The Representative spoke about his York County roots and the values instilled in him by his parents. He said these values guide him in his service to the constituents of his district.
He also fielded questions from the group which focused on Social Security benefits for the “notch babies” born between 1917 and 1926, pension benefits, Medicare B caps, and what role the Federal government is taking about rising oil costs. One resident praised Rep. Platts’ office staff for their efforts in helping him to secure payment from several insurance companies for his deceased wife’s hospital bills.
The highlight of the day was the opportunity for Rep. Platts to visit with Normandie Ridge resident Mrs. Dorothy Mirtz, who had been his third grade teacher at the former Heistand Elementary School in East York. After all these years they had many stories to share.
