Normandie Ridge to Host Senior Winter Games

February 26, 2008

Ridge residents enjoying a game of horseshoes during last year’s Senior Fitness Day, an event similar to the upcoming Senior Winter Games, but held during the summer months.

Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community will be hosting their first annual Senior Winter Games, themed “Itching for Spring,” during the week of March 10.  Residents will have the opportunity to participant in a number of activities, including (but not limited to) an aquatic nucom/volleyball tournament, aquatic scrabble tournament, triathlon, puzzle timers, scrabble, ring toss, bowling, relay egg race, and brain busters.  A portion of the week’s events will be set aside for the facility’s staff, such as a relay race, pie eating contest, etc.; the Employee Games will take place on March 14 beginning at 1 p.m.  A gold, silver, and bronze medal will be given to the participants who rank in the top three places for each activity.

During the winter months leading up to the Senior Winter Games, residents were given the opportunity to ‘practice’ for the Games by taking part in many of the same activities that will be offered during the actual event.  The Senior Games will close with an Awards Ceremony beginning at 3 p.m. on March 14 that will entail a dinner buffet, presentation by Tammy Kerr of the Arthritis Foundation, performance by the Normandie Ridge Line Dancers, and the recognition of the first, second, and third place winners of the week’s events.

For more information and/or a tentative schedule of events, please call Billie Jo Hawkes at (717) 718-4825.
