What’s New at RiverWoods
RiverWoods Residents Turns 107

August 31, 2006
Grace Hornberger, a long-time resident of RiverWoods Senior Living Community, turned 107 years-old on August 21. Her birthday was celebrated with a party on August 26.
Grace’s birthday celebration was planned by her niece, Shirley Herman, and was held at RidgeCrest Restaurant on the RiverWoods campus. In attendance were friends, family, and her caretaker, Sharon Fisher, a CNA at RiverWoods.
Festivities included piano playing, singing Happy Birthday, Amazing Grace, and a luncheon. A birthday cake was prepared by Country Cupboard Restaurant.
“Grace really enjoyed her party,” commented Sharon Fisher. “…I’ve been taking care of her since the first day she got here in 1987.”
Every year, Sharon buys Grace a new dress and fixes her hair for her birthday. Sharon will have been employed at RiverWoods for 31 years this coming January.
Although Grace is blind and nearly deaf, she still enjoys listening to church on TV. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday School and worked as a secretary for the Red Cross.
