Holiday Happenings at RiverWoods Senior Living Community

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner was served at RiverWoods Senior Living Community on Thanksgiving Day November 23 in the RidgeCrest Restaurant. 275 people made reservations to enjoy the holiday feast with family and friends.
The Thanksgiving buffet consisted of turkey with gravy and home-style stuffing; cranberry/orange relish; carved ham; mashed potatoes; cole slaw; sweet potatoes, succotash, baby carrots, and green beans almandine. Several desserts were prepared, including minced pie; pumpkin pie; pecan pie; sugar free apple pie; and fresh fruit. The cost was $12.95 for adults and $7.95 for children ages 12 and under.
A Tree Lighting ceremony will be held at RiverWoods on December 11 to kick off the holiday season. Residents will spend the evening singing, enjoying cookies and punch, and spending time with their friends.
In addition to the Tree Lighting, RiverWoods will be hosting a Christmas Tea on December 18 for all residents. A buffet for Riverview Manor residents will be served at noon, and the independent/residential living residents will be served at 6 p.m. RiverWoods staff, dressed in holiday attire, will be on hand to assist residents. Christmas music will play in the background, and the participants will have the opportunity to sing their favorite holiday carols.
The menu for the Christmas Tea will include assorted hot appetizers; baby back BBQ ribs; Italian meatballs; mini Maverick crab cakes; mini quiche; relish tray; fresh vegetable tray with dip; battered vegetables; baked tater puffs; fresh fruit; Christmas cookies; mini cheesecakes; and petit fours.
