Slifer House Museum Announces the Birth of a New Limited Edition Print

Slifer Deutzia

October 4, 2006

Margaret Wilson, a friend of the Slifer House Museum, has produced an original watercolor, From a Victorian Garden: The Slifer Deutzia, which portrays the lovely blossoms of the deutzia that accent the wrap-around porch of the museum in the spring.

Each spring, the Slifer House is surrounded by a lovely white halo of bell-shaped flowers.  Now, thanks to Margaret, you can enjoy the flowers all year round.

The original painting was made into one hundred limited edition prints, produced by Susquehanna Editions, and are numbered and signed by the artist.  They are available for sale at the museum, at the Open Door Gallery and Faustina Gallery (both in Lewisburg), and at the Susquehanna Gallery and Frame Shoppe in Jersey Shore for $100.  The original watercolor was sold at the museum’s Art and Service auction on September 10.

“The prints are the perfect gift for any occasion,” said Gary Parks, museum director.

Margaret graduated magna cum laude from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor of fine arts in medical illustration.  She refined her artistic skills by replicating the intricacies of the human body on paper at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  She sketched and painted flowers as a hobby.  Her botanical illustrations are now sought by art collectors throughout the area.  She has enjoyed many successful shows at the Faustina Gallery in Lewisburg.
