Slifer House Museum Raises Over $7,500 in Art and Service Auction

Art and Service Auction

September 22, 2006

Slifer House Museum’s annual art and service auction, held on September 10 in the gardens of Jan and Hank Truslow of Pottsgrove, raised over $7,500 to offset the costs of running the museum.

The auction featured the unveiling of the limited edition print, From A Victorian Garden: The Slifer Deutzia, which was created by Margaret Wilson, a noted botanical artist.  Only one hundred copies of this artwork will be available at the Faustina Gallery, Open Door Gallery, Susquehanna Gallery and Frame Shoppe in Jersey Shore, and the Slifer House Museum.  It was printed by Susquehanna Editions of Jersey Shore.

Some items included in the auction were: several oils by Irina Yastremski of Lewisburg; a ceramic ‘beast’ produced by sculptor and potter Eileen Keefer; “Giving Spirit,” a publisher’s proof by David Seybold; ‘A Soup A Month,’ featuring gourmet soups by Kathy Graham for six months; two tickets to the Abraham Lincoln dinner at the Museum; a canoe trip down the Susquehanna with artist Simonne Roy and sponsored by Betsy and Allan Quant’s Canoe Susquehanna; and a weekend at a hunting lodge on Maryland’s eastern shore.

The event was coordinated by Grace Mahon, Keri Albright, Jody Horn, owner of Faustina’s Gallery; and Gary Parks, Museum Director, all of whom serve on the Advisory Board.
