Wedding Bells Ring at RiverWoods Senior Living Community

In 1952 Jack & Evelyn Nelson and Ruth and Bill Fritz, now residents of RiverWoods Senior Living group photo of residents renewing vowsCommunity, Lewisburg PA were married. Ronald Reagan and Nancy Davis were married the same year. In 2006, during the month of June, recreation assistant Nancy Wise organized the event for these two couples along with Raymond and Priscilla Bowersox who were married in 1979 to renew their wedding vows in an Evergreen Lane ceremony attended by more than 25 other RiverWoods residents. Nancy’s idea came about because she wanted to do something to celebrate the month of weddings. Employees from therapy, nursing, dietary and social services and administration all contributed to making this a wonderful event. The ceremony including a wedding cake with flowers, brides bouquets containing their favorite colors , which they carried as the couples processed to the accompaniment of the traditional Bridal Chorus from Wagner's "Lohengrin."wedding cake


Other music was provided by "Our Friends" Comprised of couples Danny and Carolyn Neitz, Harry and Gloria Yerg, Jim and Norma Catherman and Clarence and Joyce Snyder. The group has visited RiverWoods and entertained the residents twice a month for the past five years. On this occasion Danny Neitz also presided over the renewal of the vows. The reception included a toast with punch followed by dancing to "The Hokey Pokey" and Andy Williams' "Wedding Song." The wedding cake, made by Nancy Wise and cut by volunteer Veda King, was distributed to the Evergreen Lane residents at dinner.
