July 5 , 2007

The first annual talent show for the residents and staff of RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg was held on Tuesday, May 15 at 2 p.m. in Marlow Hall, located within the campus’s Nursing Care Center.  The talent show was held in celebration of National Nursing Home Week (May 13-19), and attracted approximately 60 residents and 40 staff members.

About 25 the staff and 25 residents participated in the event by reciting poems, singing, dancing, and playing instruments.  Raleigh Astin, who works for the RiverWoods transportation department, was the deejay for the afternoon.  The highlight of the talent show was when a giant ice cream sundae was constructed in front of the residents by the area dairy princess and maids using three large tubs of ice cream and a variety of toppings; the ice cream and toppings were provided by Schneider Valley Farms.  Afterwards, portions of the sundae were dished out to everyone in attendance.

“We were glad so many residents and staff were willing to share their talents during the show,” commented Stacy Drum, Therapeutic Recreation Director.  “All of the participants did such a wonderful job.”
