Albright College Alumni Hosts Reunion at RiverWoods

Albright College, located in Reading, PA hosted a luncheon for their alumni on the RiverWoods Senior Living Community campus on Tuesday, March 13 in Marlow Hall, located within the Nursing Care Center.  Kathy Whitenight, RiverWoods Dietary Manager, and her catering partners prepared a wonderful lunch, complete with red and white decorations, which are the colors of Albright College, balloons, and a display of college memorabilia.

Eleven alumni who reside or work at RiverWoods were joined by their fellow Albright alumni and friends from the immediate area for this special event.  An impressive slide show demonstrating the philosophy and student diversity at Albright were shown along with pictures – old and new - of campus buildings.  Much laughter filled the room as the alums were invited to tell their stories about the happenings associated with the various buildings (and with Selwyn Pond where, frequently, those celebrating birthdays and other events were tossed in).

Special representatives of the college who spoke with the group were Katie Druckenmiller and Nina Simoncavage, both Major Gift Officers; and Christian Sockel, Senior Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving.  These three spoke of the recent advances Albright has made and the vision for the future.

Jacob Albright, an itinerant preacher in the early 19th century and founder of the Evangelical Church (after which Evangelical Hospital is named), is the person honored by the name of Albright Care Services and Albright College.
