Riverview Manor Residents Go Tropical

August 15 , 2007

Palm Tree

On Saturday, August 11, approximately 30 residents of the Riverview Manor Assisted Living facility enjoyed their second annual luau.   During the activity, residents and staff were taught hand movements of the hula dance.  Everyone in attendance had a great time and even received a surprise visit from one of the RidgeCrest Cooks who was adorned in a grass skirt and strutted his stuff to the music!

Resident Support Assistant, Jane Leitzel, organized the event which included some Hawaiian trivia.  Amazingly, there were eight residents who were present for the activity that had actually made a trip to Hawaii and took the time to reminisce about their experiences.   Refreshments, including an edible fruit tree created by Gary Verruni, RidgeCrest Chef Manager, was enjoyed after the program.  The tree was made using pineapples, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, honeydew and bananas.  Ms. Leitzel was very pleased and commented, “The residents all had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s event.”
