Annual Rock-A-Thon to be Held at RiverWoods Senior Living Community

The Cloverleaf Cloggers provide dancing entertainment during last year's Rock-A-Thon.

January 26, 2007

RiverWoods Senior Living Community’s 27th Annual Rock-A-Thon will be held from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 9 in Marlow Hall, located inside the Nursing Care Center.

Every year, residents gather in Marlow Hall from the apartments and cottages, assisted living, and the Nursing Care Center to spend the afternoon rocking on rocking chairs or in wheelchairs to raise money for the American Heart Association.  Entertainment is provided for the participants and all other attendees.  This year, the Central PA Heelers Dog Training Club will perform their Square Dancing Dogs Program at 1:30 p.m. and Carole Bendick will present “Back Porch Rhythms” at 2:30 p.m.  Sing-a-longs and other activities will also take place that afternoon.

General donations and sponsorships of the rockers will be collected and a bake sale will be held by the RiverWoods Auxiliary in order to raise funds for the Association.  Baked goods to be donated could be dropped off at RiverWoods on February 8 or the morning of the event.  In the past, $800-$1200 has been raised as a result of the Rock-A-Thon.

Please contact Stacy Drum, Therapeutic Recreation Director, at (570) 522-1931 to make a donation or for more information.  Donations will be collected up until February 9.
