RiverWoods Senior Living Community is full of active seniors.    Bucknell University senior, Katy Simison, learned this very quickly after contacting RiverWoods looking to find volunteers to assist her in a research project.  Miss Simison, who is completing an honors thesis research project under the direction of Professor Andrea Halpern in the Psychology Department, contacted RiverWoods after learning that other professors and students recruited volunteers for other projects.

“I know students who have done research with Professor Halpern in the past have successfully recruited volunteers at RiverWoods,” Katy said.

The purpose of the interview was to see how well people believe they understand written material they have just read.  Volunteers were asked to commit an hour of time to perform simple tasks such as reading short texts, answering questions about the texts, completing a vocabulary test, and a working through memory test which required them to remember numbers.
