Executive Director Selected for RiverWoods Senior Living Community

We are pleased to announce that Anthony (Tony) Cooper has accepted the role of Executive Director at RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg.  The RiverWoods campus features independent living (56 Garden Cottages and 64 apartments), 71 assisted living apartments, and a 226-bed nursing care center.  The campus offers an on-site family health center in addition to an array of amenities including an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, restaurant, and café.  He will begin his full-time duties in the beginning of September.

Mr. Cooper has served as the Executive Director of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, VA for the past eleven years.  While in this position, he led the 400-resident campus through a Master Planning process that added 30 independent living apartments, re-constructed their 75-bed assisted living facility, and completely revamped the nursing care center.  His previous professional experience also includes working in the elder care services field as a nursing home administrator.

He is a licensed nursing home administrator and a graduate of West Virginia University with both a bachelor of science and master of science degrees.

Mr. Cooper was an active member of the Harrisonburg community, where he served on numerous boards and agencies.  He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball.

Tony and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud parents of four sons and a daughter ranging in age from seven to sixteen.
