Outstanding Staff Members Recognized as "Best of the Best" at RiverWoods

June 10 , 2008
Every year, the Albright Care Services (ACS) Board of Trustees conducts a program to honor ACS employees. This program, entitled “Best of the Best,” began in 1996 and recognizes one outstanding staff member from RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg and Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York, both owned and operated by ACS. Best of the Best provides an opportunity for the Trustees to meet some of the professionals within the organization. As part of their Annual Meeting held at Normandie Ridge on May 22, Albright Care Services announced that Mina Nickelson, an employee at RiverWoods, has been named the “Best of the Best” for 2008.
Recommendations for this honor can be made by anyone (other staff, residents, family of residents, etc.), but the “final” nomination is made to the Executive Council by the appropriate site Executive Director. Nominee selection is based on the following criteria: outstanding achievement, attitude, dedication, innovation, motivation, skills, enthusiasm, and contribution to the corporation. The selected employees from each facility are invited to attend the Annual Board Meeting, where he/she is introduced and recognized by the Board and Corporate Officers for his/her contribution to the corporation. The employee is asked to say a few words about their work with ACS and has the opportunity to have lunch with the Board.
In addition, the awardees receive a plaque and a weekend-for-two package at the location of their choosing from a selection of destinations offered through the Human Resources Department in the Central Office. Albright Care Services pays for hotel and meal expenses. Mina is thinking of going on a bus trip with her sister in the near future.
“Mina has a way of brightening up a room with her smile and laugh,” according to her supervisor, Sharon, Magyar, Assisted Living Administrator. “Mina is so patient with the residents and can make every one of them smile.”
While receiving the award, the reason why she was chosen was evident. Mina stated, “I didn’t win this award on my own – it was my coworkers and residents who share in this honor and I will be taking this back to share it with them.”
