28th Annual Rock-A-Thon to be Held at RiverWoods Senior Living Community

February 6 , 2008
RiverWoods Senior Living Community’s 28th Annual Rock-A-Thon will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8 in Marlow Hall, located inside the Nursing Care Center. This event is free of charge and is open to the community.
Every year, residents from all over the RiverWoods campus gather in Marlow Hall to spend the afternoon rocking on rocking chairs or rolling in wheelchairs to raise money for the American Heart Association. For the third year in a row, a group of residents from Riverview Manor’s Assisted Living Facility will be joining the rest of the rockers to raise money for a good cause. The group that calls themselves ‘Riverview Rockers’ is coordinated by Jane Leitzel, Riverview Manor Recreation Assistant. The Riverview Rockers will be easily identified by the t-shirts they will be wearing, which were made by each member of the group solely for this event.
Entertainment is provided for the participants and all other attendees. At 2:00 p.m., The Central Pennsylvania Heelers will entertain the crowds with their square dancing dogs. At 2:45 p.m., Garden Cottage resident, Will Ballew, will sing; and then at 3:00 p.m., Paul Farnhum will sing and play his guitar.
General donations and sponsorships of the rockers are being accepted, and a bake sale will be held by the RiverWoods Auxiliary in order to raise funds for the Association. Donations of baked goods can be dropped off at RiverWoods on February 7th or the morning of the event. In the past, over $1000 has been raised as a result of the Rock-A-Thon.
Please contact Stacy Drum, Therapeutic Recreation Director, at (570) 522-6186 to make a donation or for more information.
