New Director of Rehabilitation Named at RiverWoods

In February, Christopher Benfield was promoted to the position

of director of rehabilitation at RiverWoods where he is responsible

for the oversight and management of the rehabilitation department

at the facility.

Prior to his promotion, Chris was the staff physical therapist in the rehab department. In that position, he was the team leader for the wound care program, and developed outpatient and adult group home programs. He also taught an employee "Back Safety" education program.

Chris is a clinical reviewer for the peer reviewed journal, "Physical Therapy Case Reports," a consultant for the Gerson Lehrman Group Healthcare Council and he presented at Geisinger Medical Center's third Annual Wound and Ostomy Program, "Wound Care Issues in Long Term Care."

Chris received his bachelor's in health sciences in 1997 and his master's in physical therapy in May 1998, both from the University of Scranton. In addition, he has had more than 60 hours of training in balance, fall prevention and specific conditions seen in the geriatric population and more than 50 hours of training in basic and advanced wound healing techniques.
