Commonwealth Speaker and Long-Time Storyteller, Alan Irvine, to Speak at Slifer House

The Pennsylvania Humanities Council and Slifer House Museum will host Commonwealth speaker and long-time storyteller, Alan Irvine, as he presents "Rogues and Rascals of Pennsylvania." The lecture will be held at the Slifer House Museum, located at 80 Magnolia Drive in Lewisburg, Saturday July 21 at 2:00 pm. The cost is $6.00 per person, and the presentation is open to the public.
In connection with The Slifer House Museum's current exhibit, "Murder, Mayhem, and Medicine," Dr. Irvine will highlight some of the infamous characters from Pennsylvania’s rich heritage. Dr. Irvine has been a Commonwealth speaker since 1991. He is an instructor at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Sociology and is currently the co-chair of the 2006 National Storytelling Conference.
This presentation is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. The PHC inspires people to come together and share a life of learning. Since 1973, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council has provided resources that empower local groups to help their communities explore history, literature, the arts, and the ideas that shape human experience.
