Presidential Visit Scheduled at the Slifer House Musuem
October 8, 2007

The Slifer House Museum is pleased to announce a presidential visit to take place on Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10. The president of the United States will be addressing the Slifer audience on the state of the union—the state of the nation in the 19th century that is. President Abraham Lincoln will appear. Each performance begins at 8 p.m.
Well-known for his performances as the 16th president of the United States, Jim Getty maintains a theatre in Gettysburg year-round. He travels thousands of miles every year, performing before children, historical societies and reenactment groups. His busy schedule recently took him to California to film a documentary and provide a voice-over for another film. Getty performs an unforgettable monologue, recounting the life of the great statesman. Our traditional venue of entertainment will be presented both nights.
Miss Betty Cook will serve as hostess of the event. Prior to Mr. Lincoln’s appearance, Civil War music will be performed by soprano Ruth Blankenship, baritone Tom Ruhl, pianist Judith Blee, and musical assistant Maggie Connelly. A Presidential Honor Guard will be present. After the presentation, audience members are encouraged to ask questions and then meet the performers during a reception. Ticket prices are $12 for members and $15 for non-members. You are strongly encouraged to purchase your tickets early as the performance is normally a sell-out. Checks or money orders may be sent to: Slifer House Museum, 80 Magnolia Drive, Lewisburg, PA., 17837. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of the tickets. Telephone reservations will not be accepted.
