Slifer House
Slifer House Museum to Host the World Premiere of Matt & Dave, Dave & Matt
July 1 , 2008
The Slifer House Museum, Lewisburg, will host the world premiere of a newly-formed vaudeville team of David Hall and Matt Poremsky on Thursday, July 3 at 7 p.m. Weather-permitting, the concert will be held on the front lawn of the museum. The concert is free and open to the public, although a freewill offering is taken. As is the time-honored tradition, an old-fashioned ice cream social follows each concert. In the event of rain, Marlow Hall at RiverWoods is the rain location.
David Hall, better known as the President and CEO of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, is a talented comedian and will be recounting adventurous tales in a humorous fashion. Matt Poremsky, a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in music, has proven his versatility by performing with the youth concerts under the direction of Ruth Blankenship and as a featured performer at the Slifer House Museum’s annual Abraham Lincoln fundraising dinner. He will focus on the music of the early twentieth century. The concert is being sponsored by Jan Bender. The musical portion of the program will be enhanced with a newly-donated Casio digital piano donated by Mrs. Bender in memory of her late husband, the Reverend Richard Bender.
The remaining concerts include:
- Thursday, July 24, 7 p.m., the Dansbachers;
- Thursday, August 14, 7 p.m., the Nittany Mountain [Bag] pipe Band; and
- Thursday, August 28, 7 p.m., the Buffalo Valley Brass Ensemble.
The concert series is supported by Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by Community Partnerships Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council.
